Smart Consultancy Scotland

Smart Consultancy (Scotland) Ltd, based in Glasgow, was established in 2003 by David Smart.  David has over 21 years of independent consultancy experience, and directly delivers many services supported by a team of long standing associates.   

Since we began, the Smart Consultancy team has worked on over 250 assignments for over 60 public, voluntary and private sector clients.  We work across a range of areas, including: employability and training; economic development; criminal justice; health and social care; learning; addictions; and third sector development.  Support provided includes: evaluation and review; feasibility studies; business planning; facilitation and training; strategy development; partnership development and support; and bid writing.     

How we work is as important as what we do. This is characterised by our:

Planning

Right at the beginning of any work, we like to bury ourselves in the background, fully bottom-out expectations, define clear-end consultancy ‘success’ and get to know the people.

Flexibility

Although we agree on established processes with our clients before our work commences, we remained focussed on getting the best outcomes. If we have to adapt and be flexible to get these, we will.

Approachability

Our consultancy approach is not based around being remote ‘experts’; we like to work alongside people, sharing and gaining knowledge. We aim for clients to like working with us, and hope we succeed!

Connecting

Working across a range of issues over a long period of time has given us the opportunity to build many fruitful professional networks. Often this can lead to some of the most innovative and imaginative thinking.

Working Relationships

We have many repeat clients, with whom we have long standing relationships. This is mutually beneficial, and means we can be part of an organisation’s ‘journey’ over time. Although we are happy to do one-off pieces of work, we are often asked back!

Practicality

Consultancy work is commissioned for a reason, and organisations need value for money in applying scarce resources. All our outcomes identify and answer the ‘so what?’ questions – and ensure the work can be practically used and applied.
